Best of 2019

Best Album 2019

Lewis: Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - End of Suffering

Big fan of Gallows, bigger fan of this band. It was always tapping into Carter's more sensitive side and he finds his voice on this album where he tackles mental health and relationship issues.

Ben: Biffy Clyro - Balance, Not Symmetry

This album is the soundtrack to a movie I'll probably never watch. Until Biffy Clyro bring out their next album (hopefully next year) this album filled the void. It's got a mixture of everything, screaming, love songs, techno, and piano.

Danny: Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell

The fifth album from Lana showcases her finest songwriting talents to date, equally an irreverence and enthusiasm for the tragedy of Americana. The first single released was a cover of Sublime's Doin' Time, and only Lana can do the classic justice, entirely making it her own in the process. Despite a stellar year of music, Norman Fuckin Rockwell is the one album I kept going back to.

Best Song 2019

Lewis: Sharon Van Etten - Seventeen

This song is full of nostalgia and seems like Van Etten speaking to a younger version of herself or possibly even a young family member. It's a beautiful song that showcases her vocals and songwriting levels.

Ben: Black Star Dancing - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

The track to my summer, this song just killed it, bringing a slight INXS vibe but done by a Gallagher.

Danny: Dope Lemon - Hey You

The only album to come close to Norman Fuckin Rockwell this year was Smooth Big Cat by Dope Lemon (Angus of Angus & Julia Stone), and Hey You gets the nod for best song of 2019.

Best Film 2019

Lewis: The Joker

Joaquin Phoenix is COLOSSAL as The Joker and Todd Phillips shows he's WAY more than The Hangover films.

Ben: The Joker

Lewis sums it up perfectly, just flawless.

Danny: The Joker

Three for three, The Joker is hands down our top film of 2019, nothing else really comes close.

Favourite Sports Moment 2019

Lewis: England Cricket team's World Cup win

Ben Stokes with one of the most ridiculous innings you're likely to ever see, oh no wait, he topped that at Headingly in The Ashes!

Danny: The Comeback in Paris - United Beat PSG 3-1

In what has been a fairly dismal few years of watching Manchester United play, this goes down as the highlight of the year. United travel to Paris in an effort to turn a 2-0 tie around to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, they did.

Ben: The Quieter You Are The More You Can Hear

I only like surfing.

Most important Photo 2019

Lewis: Kookaburra looking over the burnt land in Aus.

Ben: Crab trapped inside a discarded cup near Batangas City, Philippines. Photo taken by Greenpeace.
